seasonal catalog design
San Diego Hat Company releases a new catalog every 6 months containing the next season’s product offerings. San Diego Hat Company sells not only hats, but scarves, bags, jewelry and they have recently expanded into home goods.
I have designed this catalog for the past three seasons. Each catalog typically has about 700 products and comes out to about 120 pages. I use InDesign for page layout, relying heavily on grid lines, master page items, and Character and Paragraph Styles for consistent typography throughout the catalog. In addition, these catalogs feature my hand lettering for the lookbook and collection titles — I’m happy to have the creative freedom to add this personal touch!
After finalizing all of the products and the layout, it’s time to prep for print! I make sure the cropping, trapping and color are correct, then export PDFs. I provide high resolution proofs for USA and international price versions to the client who then gives those to their printer for reference.
What you see here is the final product!
